why i practice medicine:
I was born into a medical family. My father is a retired pediatrician and my mother was a practicing registered nurse. I entered medical school because of a strong interest in the science of biology and physiology. As a 20 year family physician veteran I have discovered I love my chosen profession. I love seeing children grow into healthy adults, helping patients cope with and manage their diseases, and comforting terminal patients.
Practicing in Community since:
1987 --
As part of my commitment to health, wellness and weight loss, I'm now proud to offer Symtrimics. This medically supervised, nationally based lifestyle program has significant clinical studies and has been quite successful in helping my patients with wellness and weight loss. --
A Little More About Me:
I was born in Pensacola, Florida, but raised in Topeka, Kansas. I consider myself a native of Kansas and have lived in Sedgwick County since 1982. I am married to the love of my life, Linda, who is a successful CEO of a Wichita not-for-profit organization. I have 3 beautiful daughters, Tamera, Tasha, and Rachel. Tamera is finishing law school at Kansas University in Lawrence; Tasha is in the Physical Therapy school at Kansas University in Kansas City; and Rachel is finishing her Dental Hygiene school at Wichita State University. I have 2 siblings who live in Kansas as well as 3 adorable nieces. Family is very important to me. Because of my love for nature and my environmental consciousness, I raise fruit and vegetables on a small farm south of Wichita. As a small farmer, I believe it is important to support our small farmers by purchasing from the local farmers market. Staying physically fit is one of my true passions. I am in constant training for some sort of endurance event. I have participated in several triathlon’s locally, the Hotter Than Hell 100 bike ride in Wichita Falls, Texas, and open water swims. Ultimately, my goal is to participate in a full length Ironman triathlon. I enjoy high school and college sports and have served as the team physician for the Northwest High football team for several years. I am a serious Jayhawk basketball fan and try to attend at least one hometown game a year.
